Fiji welcomes NZ visitor
New Zealand travellers jumped to the top of Fiji’s arrivals market for the year ending December 2010, accounting for up to 15.4 percent of all of the country’s international visitors.
Figures from the Fiji Bureau of Statistic found the number of Kiwis into Fiji increased by up to 7.36 percent from 90,898 in 2009 to 97,587 last year.
Overall Fiji saw a 16 percent increase in total arrivals last year up from 542,186 to a new record of 632,000.
Tourism Fiji chief executive Josefa Tuamoto said the record breaking figure “effectively obliterate[ed]” projections set in 2009 to achieve 600,000 by the year 2012.
In other markets, Fiji witnessed a 28 percent increase in Aussies visitors from 248,489 to 318,185 as well as a three percent rise in travellers from the US to 51,592.?
Meanwhile Chinese arrivals jumped by 31.89 percent to 18,227 and Indian holiday makers spiked by 22.32 percent to 2905.
